Dr. Michael Lienhard was born and raised in Secaucus, New Jersey. He completed his undergraduate studies in biochemistry at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and he obtained his medical degree from the University of Central Florida-College of Medicine in Orlando, FL. He completed his residency in Adult Psychiatry at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital in Manhattan NYC, and then completed two specialty fellowships in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and in Addiction Psychiatry at Montefiore Hospital in The Bronx NYC. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association (APA), American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP), American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), and International Society for Sports Psychiatry (ISSP). He enjoys practicing psychiatry in the outpatient setting, where he utilizes medication management and psychotherapy services in the treatment of various mental health conditions.
Dr. Lienhard welcomes individuals of all ages, races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, religions, and disabilities. He aims to create a safe environment for clients where openness and honesty are encouraged and appreciated. Clients will find that Dr. Lienhard approaches treatment with empathy and understanding. In addition to collaboration with individual clients, Dr. Lienhard also facilitates collaboration with others (e.g. families, significant others, therapists, psychologists, school personnel) to assist in the development of a well-informed psychiatric evaluation and treatment plan.
Dr. Lienhard strongly believes in the power of psychiatry as a means of addressing and improving the lives of those with mental health disorders.
